Compassionate Leadership With Di Krome
Di is a leadership and lived experience consultant, helping leaders and change makers who want to focus their passion into a force for good, creating workplaces and communities where people feel safe and supported. Where people thrive, wellbeing flourishes and people lead fulfilled and productive lives. Di’s work helps leaders effect change, reduce the incidence of distress, and curb the tide of suicide. It’s time to reignite your passion!
Instead of changing the way we work, many workplaces are adding to this burden, and many of the systems in our society that are supposed to help are causing further harm, having a detrimental effect on people, business, and our communities
We know that workplaces and communities need to make the wellbeing of their people their number one priority – places where people can access the support they need when they need it. But how do leaders create workplaces and systems that don’t cause unnecessary distress in the first place?
Di is on a mission to bring about the systemic change needed to reduce emotional distress and suicidality so people can thrive and lead full and productive lives. Where they can experience meaning and purpose, live free of shame and stigma, wholeheartedly accepted as they are.
Di has turned the pain of her lived experience into purpose through her education, speaking, and advocacy work. She represents people who have experienced emotional distress and suicidality via forums at the regional, state, and national levels so they can access the support they need, how they need it, and when they need it. Support where self-determination is paramount, where there is no judgement, and compassion and care are at the centre – services that have been shaped by people with lived experience to better support those who follow.
Di collaborates with leaders and change makers, co-creating a road map to help them get from where they are now to where they want to be, with a unique blend of neuroscience, compassion, and lived experience – the head, heart, and soul of leadership
Di is mentoring change makers in the lived experience movement – people who are leading the way in the lived experience of suicide and mental health fields, so they can channel their pain into purpose and bring about the changes they want to see in this world. So other people don’t have to suffer as they have suffered. People with big hearts and a burning desire to change the system or burn the systems down and create new ways of supporting people in distress based on compassion and care.
Di consults with organisations in the suicide prevention and mental health spaces, bringing the wisdom and insights that come with lived experience, so they can effect change and better support people in distress.
Di works with leaders in the corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors. Leaders with big dreams, that want to make a difference. To be the leader you always wished you had and always wanted to be. To disrupt and innovate. To inspire productivity, creativity, and great work. To make a difference and support people to thrive. To be the change you want to see can take its toll. You give your all, but there are so many obstacles in the way. It can be exhausting, fatiguing, and overwhelming. Potentially leading to burn out
Di knows that when this happens you can’t be there for your people, your family, your community. It’s crucial to fill your cup first and create ways of working that are energising and productive -focused passion is a great force for change in this world.
She knows that passion fires you up and energises you to do great work and create workplaces where people thrive, and wellbeing is paramount. That’s why she works with project and program managers, middle managers, and senior leaders, helping channel the passion – to hone a focus to do great work and bring about the change you want to see in this world. To be focused, fulfilled, and on fire. To create workplaces where people feel supported. Where they are accepted and feel safe simply to be themselves. Where, together, we can reduce emotional distress and people can thrive.
Di’s early career spanned Chartered Accounting, finance, management consulting, business analysis, and project management – all high-stress roles with long hours and unrelenting pressure. Mainly in organisations where the bottom line was paramount, there was little care for people’s wellbeing, and projects had to be delivered on time no matter the cost.
Di paid a heavy price with deteriorating mental health, which eventually led to burnout. She came to realise that people are more important than any metric. Di took time out to reflect, take stock and retrain in neuroleadership and peer support. She shifted her focus from numbers to people and now helps leaders create psychologically-safe, mentally-healthy workplaces where their people can thrive.
Di is a staunch advocate for people with lived experience of suicide and mental health, representing them at regional, state, and national levels so they can access the support they need, how they need it, when they need it.
